Yard Cooked Dishes

My wife and I was not pleased with the food, especially for the price we paid. We really could've gone to Cookout with $25 and got RIGHT! I got curry goat, and she got Oxtails. The meat was kinda tough, not flavorful and there was way more bones than meat. The mac and cheese was decent but overall, I've had way better jamaican food from other states. Definitely disappointing.

Wow been in Charlotte for 6 years and this is my first time eating from here. Definitely been missing out, my meal was absolutely delicious. I got the brown stew chicken and it came with plantains, cabbage, rice and beans and a drink all for $10. The portion size was not lacking at all. I also got a side of Mac n cheese for $3. All my food was still very warm when I got home. That brown stew chicken is Thee Bomb. Very flavorful and fall off the bone. The plantains were some of the best I’ve had. I really enjoyed the cabbage. Many places I’ve had the cabbage usually be bland, this cabbage had flava. The rice and peas were plentiful and good also. The Mac and cheese was pretty good. Everything was 5 stars for me prices, portion, taste, freshness, the service, and although it’s not a sit in restaurant the place was clean and welcoming inside. Probably should have taken pic of food before I ate, but this was my leftovers after dinner which will be another meal for lunch or dinner tomorrow.

First off let me say that I'm a 350 pmd big boy and a professional culinary worker. I am also well traveled and been all over eating all kinds of foods. This place rivals the best I've been to. Is it the most amazing curry I've ever had? No, but it's close enough to warrant praise. The reviews for the place are absolutely misleading. The portions are substantial, even for a big boy like me. The curry is flavorful and on point, and the veggies are cooked well. These guys know what they are doing, and are putting the love into the food. Don't listen to me or the other reviews, go try it for yourself. Absolutely worth the 15 bucks. Better than spending it on some trash like McDonald's or chic fil-a. At least here you'll get a full belly of some hearty food.

Ok, so I read the comments, and one common theme is either this place took those negative comments and corrected the deficiencies, or they aren't true. What did I order: brown stew fish, rice and peas and veggies and plantain. The food was good, made itna to go order, rarely I've given a restaurant 5 stars, and I may adjust if I get something that isn't like home. I can taste all the flavors as if I was a little yout in Jamaica. Not for nothing this place is good. I've been to those other places in town. They don't take constructive feedback and salty. Back to Yard cooked dishes, the flavor profile of the fish was on point, the rice great the veggies are amazing as well. The price is very reasonable. Pics are coming next time. Bless up, Chef!!
